Danny Alexander

Danny Alexander entered Parliament at his first attempt in 2005, gaining the newly reconstructed seat from Labour on a notional swing of 6%.  He is currently Chief of Staff to Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg.

After attending Fort William's Lochaber High School, Danny studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford. For eight years he was Director of Communications at the European Movement and then its successor, the Britain in Europe campaign.  In 2004 he became the Head of Communications for the newly created Cairngorms National Park.

Danny Alexander joined the shadow Work and Pensions team in 2005, becoming spokesperson for disability-related issues, and also sits on the Scottish Affairs Committee. He was appointed Shadow Minister for Social Exclusion in January 2007. In July 2007 he was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, holding the post until June 2008, when he gave it up to concentrate on his role as chief of staff to the party leader and preparing the party's manifesto.



Mike Robb

Mike Robb is standing in Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey. He is a well known voice in IT industry circles across the UK. Mike currently owns and manages an IT consultancy - working mainly with small businesses - and is a non executive director of two social enterprises.

He has been married to Gwen – a full time NHS nurse – since the early eighties. Mike and Gwen have two grown up children – James and Alasdair - both of whom have benefited from Scotland's excellent state schools. Outside of work and family, Mike is an enthusiastic hill walker and climber committed to the protection of our outdoor environment as a member of the Scottish Ramblers, the BMC and The John Muir Trust.



Jim Ferguson

Locally born, Jim is a successful businessman and his company, The Castle Security Group is one of the largest providers of security services in the Highland and Grampian regions.

Jim is married with three children who attend local schools. He is involved with the community around him and has a keen interest in law and order. He is Chairman of the Inverness Crime Prevention panel and also Chairman of Crimestoppers for the Highlands and works at reducing crime and the fear of crime across the region.



John Finnie

John is Leader of the SNP Group on Highland Council, after being elected in 2007 as Councillor for Inverness Ness-side. John is a member of the Resources, Housing and Social Work and Gaelic Committees and represents the Highland area on COSLA.

He is also on the Highland Council, NHS Highland Leadership Board and a Director of Highland Homeless Trust, Eden Court Theatre and the Blàs Festival.

John served for 30 years in the Police, the last fourteen as an elected full-time official of the Scottish Police Federation.

John was born on 31st December 1956 in Lochaber and attended Lochaber and Oban High Schools
