Glasgow North Candidate Profiles


Ann McKechin

Ann is currently MP for Glasgow North and a Minister in the Scotland Office.  She was born and educated in Paisley and went on to study Scots Law at Strathclyde University. She practised as a solicitor from 1983 until 2000.

In 1999 Ann stood in the Scottish Parliament Elections as a list candidate for the West of Scotland.  Previously she served as Secretary of the former Glasgow Kelvin Constituency Labour Party.

In March 2001, after Maria Fyfe announced her decision not to stand for re-election, Ann was selected by Maryhill Labour Party to be their Westminster Parliamentary candidate and subsequently won the seat.



Katy Gordon

Katy has lived in Glasgow for the past 13 years. She studied French and Swedish at Aberdeen University, before starting to train as an accountant in Newcastle.  She subsequently studied for a post graduate degree in Careers Guidance at Edinburgh Napier University.

She worked initially as a Careers Adviser for the Glasgow Council Careers Service before joining Careers Scotland in 200.  In this role Katy worked with Scottish Enterprise and members of Glasgow's business community. She currently manages a national European funded Careers Scotland project, offering career counselling to people facing redundancy.

Katy was the Liberal Democrat candidate for Glasgow South in the 2005 general election and has held the positions of Secretary and Chair for the Glasgow South branch of the party. 



Erin Boyle

Erin born and raised in Glasgow attended St. Fillan's Primary and Holyrood Secondary School in the southside of the city. She gained a degree from the University of Glasgow in Philosophy and Classical Civilisation Studies in 2006. Erin works as a political researcher in the Scottish Parliament specialising in the areas of Justice, Social Justice and Constitution.

Having grown up and worked in Glasgow, Erin is passionate about the constituency and is determined to fight a campaign focussing on the issues that matter to local people.

In her spare time Erin's interests include socialising with friends, reading and travelling. She also enjoys volunteering as a guider for the girl guides and working with HCPT in Scotland a children's charity.



Patrick Grady

Patrick moved from Inverness to study History at the University of Strathclyde in 1997.  After spending a few years living in Africa and London, he returned to Glasgow in 2007.  He currently works as a policy officer in the Scottish Parliament.

Since joining the SNP at the age of 17, Patrick has held a variety of posts including National Secretary of the Federation of Student Nationalists.  He is currently convenor of Glasgow Kelvin SNP Association.
