Thomas Docherty

Thomas Docherty. He contested the South of Scotland list in the 2003 Scottish Parliament elections and stood for the North Tayside 2001.  Politics runs in his family as his father-in-law is a councillor for the Dunfermline North ward.

Thomas works as an Account Director for a communications agency and previously worked at Network Rail and BNFL.  He also served as a Research Assistant for former Dunfermline West MSP Scot Barrie.  In addition, Thomas is Chair of his local residence association.



Belinda Hacking

Belinda has worked for over 20 years as a clinical psychologist in the NHS.  She has led research projects and has developed clinical treatment programmes to improve patient care in the Health Service, specializing for the last eight years in the treatment of cancer patients. As a consultant clinical psychologist, she is responsible for running a clinical service as well as a national training programme for healthcare professionals in Scotland to improve the quality of communication at all levels within the NHS.

Belinda was educated at St Andrew's University and received her doctorate in 1995.  She began her career in health at the Camden & Islington Health Authority. These experiences led to her to understand the importance of medical care that empowers patients to manage their conditions. These beliefs were strengthened through her subsequent work in East Glasgow and latterly, Rehabilitation Services for drug users in Edinburgh. 

Belinda and her husband are active members of their community in Edinburgh South. Belinda and her husband have 3 young children.  



Willie Rennie

Willie Rennie entered Parliament on his first attempt during a by-election in February 2006. 

 As a student studying Biology at the University of Paisley, he ran the Scottish Young Liberal Democrats and after graduation went on to work for the party in Cornwall. Willie served as Chief Executive of the Scottish Liberal Democrats and the party's Chief of Staff at the Scottish Parliament between 1997 and 2001. Before his election to Westminster he was an account director for a Scottish communications firm and also served as an adviser to Fife's Lib Dem Council Group.

In his role as an MP, Willie's work on local issues has included: the campaigns against the toll proposed for the Forth Bridge and for improvements to the cancer service at Queen Margaret Hospital.  He is a member of the Shadow Defence team and was made Chair of the Parliamentary Campaigns team by Nick Clegg in December 2007.  In addition, Willie was appointed Parliamentary Whip in 2008.



Joe McCall

Joe is married with two daughters, and currently works as a teacher of mathematics and is a fencing coach.

Prior to his time as a teacher, Joe worked for a major oil company and then a small manufacturing company.

Born on 1st February 1966 in Glasgow and brought up in the city, he was educated at Lourdes Secondary School. Following this, he studied at the University of Strathclyde where he gained a degree in mining and petroleum engineering. Later, he studied for a teaching qualification at the University of Aberdeen.
