![]() David Mundell A former BT executive and MSP, David scored the Conservatives' only success on Scotland in May 2005 when he won the newly created seat of Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale with a notional eight per cent swing from Labour. Born in Dumfries in 1962, son of an hotelier, he went to Lockerbie Academy, read law at Edinburgh University and took a master's degree in business administration at Strathclyde University Business School. He worked as a solicitor in private practice before joining BT as group legal adviser for Scotland in 1991, rising to become BT Scotland's head of national affairs. After David Cameron's election as leader he returned the post of Shadow Scottish Secretary to the Shadow Cabinet and appointed David to the position. He is well known as a community campaigner in his constituency. | |
![]() Aileen Orr Aileen was born in 1953. She was educated at Lockerbie Academy. Before turning to politics Aileen was a banker. Aileen is currently a parliamentary assistant for Michael Russell MSP. Aileen has twice stood for election before. She contested Roxborough and Berwickshire at the 2007 Scottish election and Berwickshire, Roxborough and Selkirk in the 2005 general election. | |
![]() Catriona Bhatia Catriona Bhatia was born and raised in the Borders and attended Westminster College in London, where she studied Hotel, Catering & Institutional Management. Catriona was a councillor for Peebles East from 2003-2007, when she became a councillor for Tweeddale. During her time as a council she has been particularly involved in local issues concerning social and educational services provision and housing. Since being appointed as Executive Member for Education at Scottish Borders Council in 2007 she has piloted the most extensive reform of Schools and Children's services in any Scottish Council. Catriona is no stranger to elections, having also stood as a South of Scotland list candidate in the 2003 and 2007 Scottish Parliamentary elections. | |
![]() Claudia Beamish Claudia Beamish is the daughter of former Conservative MP, Sir Tufton Beamish. She is no stranger to elections, having stood as a candidate for the South of Scotland seat in all 3 Scottish Parliament elections. She is Chair of the Scottish Labour Party. Claudia is a primary school teacher and is particularly interested in environmental issues. She is a member of the Co-Operative Party and the Socialist Environmental Resources Association. | |
