![]() John Lamont Local campaigner and Borders man, John Lamont, won the Parliamentary constituency of Roxburgh & Berwickshire in May 2007 with a swing of 9.4% from the Liberal Democrats. John has been actively involved in local campaigns in the Borders for a number of years. He is well known for his extensive travels throughout the constituency to support local people and the issues important to them. Following the announcement of the Conservative Shadow Cabinet team, John was appointed as Shadow Minister for Community Safety. The son of a Berwickshire farmer and a local teacher, John knows the Borders like the back of his hand. | |
![]() Michael Moore Michael Moore entered Parliament in the 1997 General election, after on to holding David's Steel's former seat, Tweeddale, Ettrick & Lauderdale. Michael was born in Northern Ireland but brought up in Perthshire After Strathallan School in Perthshire and Jedburgh, before going on to read Politics & Modern History at Edinburgh University. After working for a year as a Researcher for Archy Kirkwood MP, Michael joined accountancy firm Coopers & Lybrand and, after qualifying as a chartered accountant, rose through the company ranks to become a manager in the corporate finance practice. Michael acted as the party's campaign chairman during the 1999 and 2003 Scottish Parliamentary elections. In October 2002 he was also elected Deputy Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats. Following the election of Menzies Campbell MP to Liberal Demorat Leader, Michael was appointed Shadow Foreign Secretary. He has also served as Spokesperson on Transport and Foreign Affairs and was Shadow Defence Secretary from 2005-06. He maintans a fairly high profile within the party in his roles as Deputy Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats and Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for International Development. | |
![]() Paul Wheelhouse Paul is a professional economist and, since 1992, has specialised in higher and further education markets, policy evaluation and economic appraisal and impact assessment of capital projects. Born in Belfast in 1970, Paul was raised in Edinburgh, attending Stewart's Melville College.Paul gained an honours degree in Economics from the University of Aberdeen and an MBA from University of Edinburgh. Paul has lived in Berwickshire since 2000, and has served as a community councillor since 2001. Paul joined the SNP in 2003 and is Organiser for Roxburgh and Berwickshire SNP. | |
![]() Ian Miller Ian Miller is currently the Chairman of the Scottish Co-operative Party. He worked for Scotmid for twenty years as a store manager and strongly believes in community ownership and mutualism. He also has a keen interest in the justice system and is a member of the prison visiting committee. Ian grew up in Penicuik and works as a carpet retailer in the town. | |
