Banff and Buchan Candidate Profiles
![]() Dr Eilidh Whiteford Eilidh was born in Aberdeen in 1969 and grew up in Macduff, Banffshire. She attended Banff Academy and Glasgow University. After post-graduate studies in Scotland and Canada she taught Scottish Literature at Glasgow University and Newbattle Abbey College for a number of years before becoming Co-ordinator of the Scottish Carers' Alliance, a network of carer, disability and children's organisations promoting the interests of unpaid family carers. ![]() Jimmy Buchan I am a 49 year old Skipper/owner fisherman, born and brought up in Peterhead. My focus at a young age was to own and skipper my own Trawler. Aged 26 I went on to buy my 1st trawler and have fished successfully to date. I am no stranger to commitment and know how it is to live a life of uncertainty in a world where it is my skill and determination that is my success. Banff & Buchan is a very lucrative constituency. I would like to bring my knowledge and understanding as a working man and businessman into politics to reassure the local people that they will have a voice in Westminster and be represented by one of their own. I am currently serving as Convenor to the port of Peterhead and have been serving the people of Peterhead in that capacity for more than 10 years. The strength of the local economy thrives from a successful Port where Oil/Gas, Fishing, Agriculture and other commercial shipping are well served. I have been an elected director of the Scottish Fishermen's Organisation for more than 20 years and in the last year have been elected as Chairman.

On leaving school he worked for 17 years at the Rowett Research Institute as a science technician. He then becamse a salesman for Scotlab covering the laboratories in the key fishing, food and oil-related industries of Banff and Buchan. Mr. Milne is presently managing director of Thistle Scientific, a UK-wide supplier to the key Life Science research sector.
