![]() Alan Reid Alan Reid entered Parliament at his fourth attempt in 2001. He was educated at Ayr Academy, followed by the University of Strathclyde and Bell College. Before entering Parliament, he was a Computer Project Manager at Glasgow University and remains a member of the Association of University Teachers (AUT). Alan is a long-standing member of the party and was a Renfrew District Councillor from 1988-96. He served as Vice-Convener of the Scottish Liberal Democrats 1994-8, Election Agent for Argyll & Bute in 1999 and was a member of the party's executive until 2003. From 2005-07 Alan was a member of the Department of Trade & Industry team, having previously served as Junior Whip, Scottish Spokesperson on Common Fisheries Policy Reform and as a Broadcasting Select Committee member. Alan was appointed Shadow Northern Ireland and Scotland Minister in 2007. | |
![]() Mike Mackenzie Michael MacKenzie was born in Oban. He was brought up in Glasgow but retained a strong connection with Argyll. He was educated at Allan Glens School and Glasgow University. He and his wife moved to Easdale Island in 1980 and continue to live there. He established a successful building business in 1983 and business interests now include a development company and an architectural company. In 1997 he was a founding director of Eilean Eisdeal which is one of the most successful community organisations in Argyll and Bute. He does occasional consultancy work for other communities on a pro bono basis. | |
![]() David Graham David Graham is married with three grown up children and lives in Dunoon. He has been a member of the Labour Party for over 30 years. Working as a youth worker for 17 years in socially deprived areas of Glasgow influenced his decision to become politically active. David is also a member of the Co-op Party and volunteers with trade union Unison. | |
![]() Gary Mulvaney Councillor Gary Mulvaney is the parliamentary candidate to fight for the Argyll and Bute seat at the next UK General Election. He has been a local councillor since 2003 and currently represents the Helensburgh Central ward, having been re-elected in 2007, topping the first preference poll. He formerly chaired the Council's Audit Committee, and currently sits on a variety of policy performance groups and other council committees. The 39 year old financial director currently lives in Helensburgh with his wife Janet and her daughter, Sammy-Jo. | |
