Margaret Mitchell

List number 1
Margaret was elected as a list MSP in 2003 and became the Scottish Conservatives deputy justice spokesman.

She is a member of the Justice 1 committee in the Scottish Parliament as well as the co-convener on the Cross-Party Group on Dyslexia and the deputy convener of the cross party group on the survivors of childhood  sexual abuse.

Before becoming an MSP Margaret has been; a teacher, a councillor for Strathclyde Regional Council (1974-1990), a Justice of the Peace (1990-present), and a non executive director for the NHS trust of Hairmyres and Stonehouse
(1992-1997)      



Graham Simpson

List number 2
Graham, 43, lives in the constituency with his wife and two children. He's a journalist on a national newspaper.

As a teenager he joined the Young Conservatives and got the political bug then. He left to carve out a career and re-joined the party in Scotland a few years ago.

Graham was born in Aberdeen. He attended secondary school in Carlisle, where he still has family.

He was responsible for the Scottish Conservatives' policy of scrapping the double jeopardy law north of the border, a view which now has cross-party support.



Stephen O'Rourke

Stephen O'Rourke is a practising Advocate at the Scottish Bar.  He believes Falkirk is a part of Scotland that is undergoing immense and exciting regeneration, due to it's location in between Glasgow and Edinburgh.  He lives in Edinburgh with his wife Joanna.


Janette McAlpine

Janette was born in Glasgow and attended Uddingston Grammar School. She went to Paisley University, where she finished her PhD in environmental management in conjunction with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency in 2000.  Following her PhD, Janette undertook a Technology Entrepreneurship at Strathclyde University, where she tutored students on starting up an internet business.  Janette currently works as the Knowledge Transfer Manager for Glasgow Caledonian University.

Dr McAlpine is the former Chairman of the North Lanarkshire Local Government Forum, which was established to stand up for local issues in North Lanarkshire. She was also the candidate in Glasgow Baillieston in the 2003 Scottish Parliamentary Elections. More recently, she stood as Westminster Candidate for Glasgow South in the 2005 General Election.

 Janette currently lives in Stewarton, with her fiancé, James.



Anne Harding

Anne has been a Councillor for Torbrex in Stirling Council since 2003 but is standing down on 3 May.  She currently works in the Scottish Parliament and assists the Conservative Spokesmen on Health; and Energy and Environment.   She previously worked as a legal recruitment consultant and before that set up a business partnership with her husband managing several retail outlets and a confectionery wholesale business covering Central Scotland.   She met her husband Keith (an MSP from 1999 ? 2003) in Zambia whilst working for the Government of Zambia in the '70s



Scott Campbell

Scott is a 29 year old from West Lothian.  He attended Linlithgow Academy then went on to study modern history at the University of St Andrews.  He went on to study law and has a masters degree in competition and EC law from King's College, London.  

Scott is a practicing solicitor involved in a number of high profile mergers & acquisitions, cartel investigations, high value litigation and regulatory matters.

Mr Campbell was a candidate for the Party at the 2001 general election in Kirkcaldy. Previously he was a candidate in St Andrews for the Fife Council elections in 1999.



Iain McGill

List number 7
Iain McGill is 30 years old and is currently director of the Harmony Employment Agency. On leaving school Iain joined Royal Mail as a postman. After this Iain worked as an aid worker overseas, in Albania, Brasil, Zimbabwe, Zambi, Malawi & Mozambique. On his return he spent 6 years working with the homeless in Edinburgh before starting his own business in July 2005. Iain has stood in council elections & was Westminster candidate in Midlothian at the last general election, always increasing the Conservative vote.

Iain is a member of his local Church, player/manager of an amateur football team, runs marathons & referees. He recently refereed the Homeless World Cup Final in Cape Town, SA.

Iain is convenor of the licensing commitee of his local community council, is vice chair of the South East Sports Facilities Project, who are actively trying to improve football facilities for youth & amateur players across Scotland, and is on the steering group of Hoveraid & the Technical Comitee of the Homeless World Cup. Iain sits on the management comitee of "The Yard" adventure playground  for children & young people with additional support needs.

Kirsten Robb

Kirsten Robb is a community activist in East Kilbride and across the region. She has run community based campaigns to improve local PPP schools, push for sustainable development within the region, and she set up the fair trade group in East Kilbride. She is a works in policy analysis and was born and brought up in East Kilbride.



Gary Dunion

List number 2

Gary Dunion works as an anti-poverty campaigner for the World Development Movement. In this role he   co-ordinates activist groups across Scotland campaigning against global poverty. Before this he was an outdoor educator. He also works part time for the Green MSPs, is International Convener of the Scottish Young Greens, and helps run the European Young Greens anti-xenophobia campaign.



David Robertson

David Roberson is the National Alliance Manager for ASH Scotland, and helped lead the campaign for smoke free public places. Before this he managed a national Local Exchange Trading System (LETS) project and was on the policy committee of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations.

Hugh O?Donnell

Hugh stood for the Scottish Parliament seat of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth in the first Scottish Parliament Elections in 1999, coming third with 6.64% of the vote. He stood for the same seat again in the 2003 Scottish Parliament Elections coming fourth with 5.18% of the vote.

In addition to standing in the Scottish Parliament Elections Hugh has contested Westminster seats. He stood for Falkirk in the 2001 General Election gaining 15% of the vote. In the 2005 General Election he stood for the seat of Cumbernauld, Kilsyth, and Kirkintilloch East polling 7.1%of the vote.

Ron Aitken

Ron was born and brought up in Glasgow and was educated at Glasgow University and the School of Oriental and African Studies. He has a BA Degree in Middle East Politics and an MSc Degree in International Politics of Asia. Ron has been a councillor for the Liberal Democrats since 2002.

For ten years he worked as an assistant to various MPs in the House of Commons on issues like Northern Ireland, health, and the environment.

Callum Chomczuk

Callum Chomczuk has had previous electoral experience having stood for the Westminister seat of Falkirk West in the 2005 General Election where he took 16% of the vote. As well as standing for the Scottish Parliament seat of Falkirk West he is also a Regional List Candidate for Central Scotland.

Before standing as a candidate himself he has been a media monitor for the MEP Elspeth Attwooll and an intern for the MSP Robert Brown. He was educated in Falkirk and studied at Glasgow University.

Alex Neil

Alex Neil was born in 1951

After first being elected to the Scottish Parliament as a list MSP in 1999 Alex became SNP spokesperson for social justice before chairing the Parliament's Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee from 2000-2003.
 
He is a Vice-Convenor of the Cross-Party Group on Construction and co-Convener of the Cross-Party Group on the Scottish Economy. In September 2004 he was appointed convener of the Parliament's Enterprise and Culture Committee.
Before joining the SNP in 1985 Neil was a member of the Labour Party being part of its student wing while he studied at Dundee University. Having graduated from University he became a researcher for the Labour and in 1976 helped form the Scottish Labour Party.

Linda Fabiani

Linda Fabiani is a Member of the Communities Committee, the Standards Committee and Substitute Member of the Equal Opportunities Committee.

Having campaigned on a range of social justice issues, including housing and public services, Ms. Fabiani was part of the steering group which brought fair trade status to her home town of Strathaven. She is particularly interested in Housing and Social Policy, and having lived and worked in both urban and rural areas, has a keen interest in issues of Land Reform and Use



Jamie Hepburn

Jamie joined the SNP aged 18 and became active in the party's student wing as well as in his home city of Glasgow. During his time as a student, he served as Senior Vice President of Glasgow University Students' Representative Council and as convenor of the SNP student wing. He is currently employed by Alex Neil MSP as his research assistant. He previously stood as a council candidate for the Firhill ward in Glasgow in 2003, and Cumbernauld, Kilsyth & Kirkintilloch East at the 2005 Westminster election.

Christina McKelvie

Christina McKelvie is the current secretary and campaign coordinator in Glasgow Baillieston for the SNP.

She has worked in various frontline roles within Glasgow city council social work services for over 18 years and is currently a Learning and Development Officer with the Training section.

She is also an elected community councillor and the health and social care spokesperson for the Community Council.

Marion Fellows

Marion was adopted as the SNP's candidate by her local constituency branch to fight the 2007 Scottish Parliament elections.

She has been an active participant in public affairs having been Secretary of the Community Council in Bellshill.

 Marion is a college lecturer and is an active member of the EIS both at a national and regional level. She was also a branch chairman of West Lothian College.

William "Billy" McNeill MBE (born 2 March 1940) is a former Scottish footballer and manager, and former captain of Celtic. McNeill was born and brought up in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.

He previously stood for the SSCUP in 2003, but failed to win a seat.  Billy currently lives in Newton Mearns.
