Jeremy Purvis MSP

Elected as Liberal Democrat MSP for Tweeddale, Ettrick & Lauderdale in May 2003, Mr Purvis is Justice and Home Affairs spokesman. After becoming spokesperson for Finance whilst on the Finance Committee, he made an early impression by interrogating the Chief Executive Paul Grice over the Holyrood Building Project. Prior to his election, Mr Purvis worked for Sir David Steel in the House of Commons. In 2001 he established, with a fellow director, his own strategic communications consultancy, in Edinburgh advising clients on communications. 


Christine Grahame

A South of Scotland MSP since 1999, Ms Grahame is currently Co-Convener of the Cross-Party Group on Tackling Debt and Deputy Convener of the Cross-Party Group on Diabetes. In 2004 she stood for the post of SNP Deputy Leader, coming third behind Nicola Sturgeon and Fergus Ewing. Joining the party 35 years ago, she has held a number of party posts including Spokesperson for older people, for Social security and Convenor of the Parliament's Health Committee.


Derek Brownlee

Elected for the South of Scotland region after David Mundell resigned his seat following his election as an MP in the 2005 General Election, Mr. Brownlee is currently the youngest MSP of any party. The Scottish Conservative spokesman on Finance, Mr. Brownlee also sits on the Scottish Parliament's Finance Committee and is a substitute member on the European and External Relations Committee. Previously he trained as a Chartered Accountant.

Catherine Maxwell Stuart

Lady Catherine Maxwell-Stuart is the 21st Laird of Traquair. She inherited the title in 1990 after the death of her father, the 20th Laird. She is the manager of Traquair Brewery and also runs runs Traquair House near Innerleithen, which was founded in 1107.

She previously stood for the Tweedale seat at the last elections in 2003 where she polled 21.56 % of the total vote.
