Falkirk East Candidate Profiles

Cathy Peattie MSP

Ms. Peattie is Convenor of the Equal Opportunities Commission and a member of the Scottish Commission for Public Audit.

In November 2001, when Jack McConnell appointed Patricia Ferguson as a Minister, Cathie Peattie was his nominee as Deputy Presiding Offer. However there was a rebellion in the secret ballot and she only received 45 votes compared to 68 the successful Tory Murray Tosh won.

Prior to her election at the Scottish Parliament, she was Manager for Community Outreach and Director of Falkirk Voluntary Action Resource Centre.

Annabelle Ewing

After Douglas Henderson, former MP for East Aberdeenshire and candidate for Falkirk East passed away in September 2006, Annabelle stepped into his place. Annabelle herself has a long background in politics, standing as an SNP candidate many times, and latterly representing Perth in Westminster after the 2001 election.  Boundary changes in 2005 forced Annabelle out of Westminster.  Annabelle continues the political legacy of the Ewing family joining her brother, Fergus, in the Scottish Parliament if she's successful.

Scott Campbell

Scott is a 29 year old from West Lothian.  He attended Linlithgow Academy then went on to study modern history at the University of St Andrews.  He went on to study law and has a masters degree in competition and EC law from King's College, London.

Scott is a practicing solicitor involved in a number of high profile mergers & acquisitions, cartel investigations, high value litigation and regulatory matters.

Mr Campbell was a candidate for the Party at the 2001 general election in Kirkcaldy. Previously he was a candidate in St Andrews for the Fife Council elections in 1999.

Natalie Maver

Natalie is also a Regional List candidate for the Lib Dems in Central Scotland.
