Sarah Boyack MSP

Sarah was appointed to the first Scottish Cabinet as Minister for Transport, Environment and Planning serving from May 1999 to November 2001.

Before being appointed Deputy Environment and Rural Development Minister in January 2007 she was convener of the Scottish Parliament Environment and Rural Development Committee as well as Joint Convener of the Cross Party Group on Renewable Energy.

Before being elected Ms. Boyack was co-ordinator for Labour's environmental policy in Scotland. She is also currently a member of Labour's Scottish Policy forum.

Ms. Boyack has also worked closely with Amnesty International to campaign for the freedom of Burmese Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Sui Kyi and other political prisoners worldwide.



Siobhan Mathers

Siobhan Mathers was born in Edinburgh, attended Alness Academy in the Highlands and the University of Edinburgh before moving to Brussels where She held a number of policy positions, working mainly on agriculture and transport policy. While in Belgium, Siobhan completed a Masters in Politics and Administration at the College of Europe.


From1998 till 2000, she worked in London as an Advisor at the BSE Inquiry. She returned to Edinburgh in 2001 as Director of Public Policy at the law firm McGrigors. In 2005, she graduated again from the University of Edinburgh, this time with an MBA. She has worked as Public Policy Advisor to the Low Carbon Initiative and Communications Director at Wind Energy Ltd. Siobhan has been involved with the Scottish Liberal Democrats for a number of years and, in 2006, took a campaigns position in the Party's Head Office.

She has had previous electoral experience, standing for the Scottish parliamentary seat of Hamilton and Bellshill in 2003.



Shirley Anne Somerville

Shirley-Anne Somerville was born in Kirkcaldy in 1974. She trained to become a Housing Officer at Stirling University and working briefly for Fife Council. After the opening of the Scottish Parliament, she worked for the SNP in Parliament before becoming Policy and Public Affairs Officer for the Chartered Institute of Housing. She currently works for the Royal College of Nursing as Media and Campaigns Officer.
