Now the Minister for Health and Community Care, Andy Kerr was previously Convener of the Transport and Environment Committee and Minister for Finance and Public Services. From 1998 to 1999, Kerr was special adviser to then Glasgow council leader, Frank McAveety (now also MSP) and helped to turn around the troubled fortunes of the council.

Prior to becoming a MSP, Kerr was also a senior officer in Glasgow City Council.

Having campaigned on a range of social justice issues, including housing and public services, Ms. Fabiani was part of the steering group which brought fair trade status to her home town of Strathaven. Graham Simpson

Graham, 43, lives in the constituency with his wife and two children. He's a journalist on a national newspaper.

As a teenager he joined the Young Conservatives and got the political bug then. He left to carve out a career and re-joined the party in Scotland a few years ago.

Graham was born in Aberdeen. He attended secondary school in Carlisle, where he still has family.

He was responsible for the Scottish Conservatives' policy of scrapping the double jeopardy law north of the border, a view which now has cross-party support.
