Elaine Murray MSP

A member of both the Finance and Education Committee, Dr Elaine Murray is also a Substitute Member of the Local Government and Transport Committee. Educated at the Universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge.
 Dr. Murray has worked as a research fellow and senior research officer at the Institute of Food Research, before being elected to Strathclyde Regional Council and then South Ayrshire Council.



Murray Tosh

Murray Tosh has been an MSP for the West of Scotland Region since 2003.

He was as a Regional Member for the South of Scotland in the 1999 election.

He is currently a Deputy Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament.

Tosh was a councillor on the former Kyle and Carrick District Council.



Michael Russell

Michael was born in Bromley in Kent in 1953 and was educated at Marr College in Troon and Edinburgh University where he graduated with an MA in Scottish History and Literature. Michael was the SNP's Chief Executive for the SNP from 1994 until his election in 1999.

 He directed the 1997 General Election campaign and the by-elections in Perth and Paisley South.

He was MSP for South of Scotland (1999-2003) and Shadow Minister for Children and Education, and SNP spokesperson on Culture, Broadcasting and Gaelic, as well as serving on the Parliament's Education, Culture and Sport Committee. Russell lost his seat in 2003.

Lynne Hume

Lynne Hume is a lecturer at Borders College, and also operates her own outside catering business.  The Lib Dem activist is also a partner in her family's farm.
