Martyn McIntyre

Martyn is 30 and lives in Glasgow.  He was brought up in Dumbarton where he attended Dumbarton Academy, before studying politics at Strathclyde University.

Following graduation in 2003, he worked for a West of Scotland regional MSP as a researcher until 2007.

Martyn was the Conservative candidate in Govan constituency at the 2007 Scottish Parliamentary election and West Dunbartonshire at the 2010 General Election.

He is currently the Policy Officer for a business organisation, based in Glasgow.   


Andrew Morrison

Andrew was born in Govan, and was educated at St Mungo's Academy in the city's East End. He left full-time education at 16 and found work as a junior trainee with an independent practice of Chartered Accountants. 

Through years of work experience and evening-classes, he obtained a degree in Applied Accounting and became a qualified accountant at age 21. 

Now a qualified accountant, Andrew works with small and medium sized businesses across Central Scotland in a wide variety of roles.

He is a member of the advisory network to the Social Justice Foundation, an independent, non-policially aligned think tank dedicated to researching and providing solutions to alleivate the social problems troubling Scottish society. 

Andrew also trained as a volunteer with Citizens Advice Direct.


Richard Sullivan

Richard studied at Stirling University and gained a degree in Politics and a post graduate in Technology Management. He is a management consultant and has worked in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Richard has represented the Conservative Party at elections since 2004 in his native Clackmannanshire and in Glasgow. He also stood for Glasgow North West in the 2010 General Election.

He has held many party positions and is currently Chairman of the Glasgow Central Conservative Association. He has previously held positions in the Stirling Constituency Association.


Patrick Harvie

Born in the Vale of Leven, Dunbartonshire, Patrick has served as the Green MSP for Glasgow since 2003 and has been Co-convenor of the Scottish Green Party since 2008. For this current Parliamentary session, Patrick is Convener of the Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change Committee.
He is also the Green spokesperson for Finance & Sustainable Growth, Health & Wellbeing and Justice.
Before his election to Parliament, Patrick was employed with the Gay Men's Project at the sexual health agency PHACE Scotland (now known as THT Scotland), initially as a youth worker and then as Development Worker (Lanarkshire). Working at PHACE, Patrick was involved in research, groupwork, one-to-one support work, resource development, fundraising, equality policy work and training in assertiveness, sexual health, equality and discrimination issues.


Martha Wardrop

Martha is one of the co-convenors of the Green Group of Glasgow City Councillors. She has experience gained from employment in the Voluntary Sector and was first elected to the city council to represent the Hillhead ward in 2007.  She is convenor of the Council's Energy Working Group.  She also serves on the Executive Committee and the Licensing & Regulatory Committee.  Martha first moved to the area in 1988 as a student and now, lives at St. George's Cross. She takes particular interest in the sustainable development,  planning, heritage, recycling  and works closely with residents and community organisations in the area.


Hanzala Malik

Hanzala is Glasgow born of mixed decent - his father Pakistani and his mother Scottish.  He has been married for over 30 years with two children and two grandchildren. Being multilingual, Hanzala is fluent in: English, Punjabi and Urdu.  Keen on international issues, Hanzala's most recent work includes securing the Pakistan International Airlines Flight between Glasgow & Lahore, Twining of Lahore and Glasgow Cities and specialising in Educational & International relations.

He has been a Glasgow City Councillor since 1995 and served as City Councillor as Chair of Lifelong learning.

Hanzala holds a BSc joint degree in computing with business administration from the University of Paisley. He has experience in retail & wholesale service industry and is also skilled in specification and the design of IT systems for management information. He has worked in both the Public and Private sector and has held the positions of Senior vice Convener of Education, Convener of Development and Regeneration Services, Chair of Glasgow & Clyde Valley Stricter Plan joint Committee and many others.  He is currently chair of Glasgow City Heritage Trust, West of Scotland Regional Equality Council, Vice Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Member of the Fire & Rescue Board, and many other organisations.


Drew Smith

Drew is a community activist in North Glasgow.  He has previously studied at Aberdeen, Glasgow and the Open universities.  Drew has worked for Labour at Holyrood and Westminster and was previously in the voluntary sector, most recently as a policy and communications official specialising in health promotion and environmental issues.
Drew is Secretary of Glasgow North Constituency Labour Party and a member of GMB Scotland.  He was Chair of Scottish Young Labour in 2005-06, Chair of the Scottish TUC's Young Workers Committee in 2008-09 and a member of the Scottish TUC General Council, 2007-10.  He's also a member of his local housing association, the Scottish Co-operative Party and Unite Against Fascism Scotland.
Drew is an active campaigner for Labour in Glasgow and a member of the executive of Glasgow City Labour Party.  He was a local campaign organiser at the 2007 and 2010 elections in Glasgow Kelvin and Glasgow North.

Judith Fisher

Judith has responsibility for Research and Knowledge Exchange at Strathclyde Business School, within the University of Strathclyde. Educated at Edinburgh University, Judith previously worked for the Fabian Society and set up and ran, Ethical Enterprise, a social enterprise consultancy. She is a member of the UCU.
Joining the Labour Party in her teens, Judith has been an active campaigner ever since, standing in the constituency of Christchurch in the 2001 General Election, where she more than doubled the Labour share of the vote. Over the past decade, she has also published widely on Scottish politics and public policy.
Judith lives in the Knightswood area of Glasgow, with her wife, Shona. In her spare time she is a voluntary youth worker and enjoys gardening and visiting Scottish islands.


Katy Gordon

Katy has lived in Glasgow for the past 13 years. She studied French and Swedish at Aberdeen University, before starting to train as an accountant in Newcastle.  She subsequently studied for a post graduate degree in Careers Guidance at Edinburgh Napier University.
She worked initially as a Careers Adviser for the Glasgow Council Careers Service before joining Careers Scotland in 200.  In this role Katy worked with Scottish Enterprise and members of Glasgow's business community. She currently manages a national European funded Careers Scotland project, offering career counselling to people facing redundancy.
Katy was the Liberal Democrat candidate for Glasgow South in the 2005 and 2010 General Elections and has held the positions of Secretary and Chair for the Glasgow South branch of the party. 


Robert Brown

Robert is an MSP for the Glasgow Region and is the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on Justice.
Robert was the Deputy Minister for Education and Young People from 2005-2007. Prior to this appointment Robert was Convenor of the Education Committee of the Scottish Parliament. He was also a member of the Scottish Parliament Corporate Body until 2005.
Brown was the Convenor of the Scottish Liberal Democrat Policy Committee until 2007 and was responsible for their 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2007 Manifestos. He was elected as the first Liberal Councillor on Glasgow District Council in 1977 and was Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group from 1977-1992. He was first elected as regional Liberal Democrat MSP for Glasgow in 1999.
Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1947, Robert Brown attended The Gordon Schools, Huntly, Aberdeenshire. He studied at Aberdeen University where he obtained 1st Class Honours in Law. Robert is a Solicitor and was senior Civil Partner with Ross Harper & Murphy Solicitors, Glasgow prior to his election.


Eileen Baxendale

Eileen grew up in the North East of England and after attending university at London and York, moved to Manchester to study social work.
She worked in Glasgow for 24 years in some of the most deprived areas of the city before leaving in 2000 to work voluntarily for the Castlemilk Churches Together Refugee Centre. The centre was closed in 2005, but she continues to be involved in a number of related organisations, including as a Director of the Fare Shares Trust, Ethnic Minorities Law Centre and Minority Ethnic Christians Together in Scotland.
Eileen was elected to South Lanarkshire Council in 2007, where she carries out the role of Depute Chair Social Work Committee.


Paul McGarry

Paul grew up in Cornwall where he was educated at the local comprehensive schools. After leaving school Paul became an intern youth worker in Manchester. He then moved to Glasgow working as a youth worker in some of Scotland's poorest estates. His work was supported by several local churches and community organisations.

Following several rounds of budget cuts to the youth programmes he worked he decided to move career Paul then moved to work with private companies in Glasgow. Paul first worked providing immigration and visa advice before commencing work with a broadcast company in Glasgow as a Sales and Marketing Executive. Paul continues to volunteer as a youth worker with a number of community and church based projects.

A Lib Dem member since his teens Paul is currently a member of the North Glasgow Executive and a campaigner in his local area.

Paul currently lives in Glasgow with his wife and both are active members of their local church. Paul has a strong passion for Glasgow and can sometimes be seen supporting one of its many sporting teams.


Natalie McKee

Natalie was born and attended school in the West End of Glasgow, graduating in Optometry from Caledonian University in 2001.
Natalie became involved in politics as a result of opposition to the Iraq War and has since been involved in a number of high profile local campaigns, including the fight against Labour's primary school closures and the local Post Office closures.
After a spell volunteering with Vision Aid in Africa, Natalie now works as an Optometrist in Glasgow. In her spare time, she volunteers once a week at the Wayside club, providing hot meals for the homeless.


Kenneth Elder

Kenneth was born in Dundee and went to school in north Wiltshire and Stirling.
He studied Human Geography and Economics at the University of Reading and maintains a keen interest in economic development and regeneration.
Kenneth is a Chartered Management Accountant and has extensive experience within the Financial Services and Banking industry.
He has previously worked in the south of England and Australia and for the last ten years has lived in north Glasgow.
Kenneth was elected to Glasgow City Council for the Hillhead ward in 2007 and is currently the Convener of the Finance and Audit Scrutiny Committee.
In his spare time he is a passionate follower of football (Dundee United), rugby (Glasgow Warriors) and cricket (Somerset CCC).


Isabel Nelson

Isabel first stood as a candidate in 1982 for Strathclyde Regional Council, then for Glasgow Central at the General Election of 1983. More recently she stood for Pollok (both Scottish and Westminster), Cardonald (Glasgow City Council), Glasgow Central at the 2005 General Election and Glasgow South West at the 2010 General Election.

Isabel grew up and went to school in Glasgow but continued her education as a mature student gaining several highers at Langside College and then an Honours degree in Economics and Politics at Glasgow University.

She was a founder member of Heatwise Glasgow eventually becoming General Manager of what was by then the largest energy conservation and training company in the UK.

Since leaving Heatwise she has been busy working on a part-time basis as an IT Consultant helping to design specialised business software for energy and training companies.


Nicola Sturgeon

Currently MSP for Govan, Deputy First Minister and Health Secretary, Nicola has worked hard as an MSP to improve communities, support local businesses and stand up for her constituents.

She was born in Irvine in 1970. She joined the SNP at the age of 16 and has been campaigning for Scottish independence ever since. Before she became an MSP, Nicola worked as a solicitor at Drumchapel Law Centre, helping people with legal problems.

She was elected as an MSP representing the city of Glasgow in 1999 and was re-elected as a Glasgow MSP in 2003. In the 2007 Scottish Parliament elections, Nicola won Govan constituency from Labour.


Humza Yousaf

Humza was born in Glasgow's Southside and after completing a degree in Politics at the University of Glasgow, he went to work in the Scottish Parliament with the late Bashir Ahmed.
He has been actively involved in the SNP since his teens and has worked for a number of MSPs in the Scottish Parliament including Anne McLaughlin, Nicola Sturgeon and Alex Salmond.
The SNP has often asked him to step forward and represent its views on a national platform; being interviewed on BBC Scotland, Radio Scotland, Real Radio, Radio Clyde, STV and in a range of local and national newspapers.
He was also awarded this year's 'Political Force of the Future Award' presented at Glasgow City Chambers.


Bob Doris

Bob is an MSP for Glasgow and convenor of the SNP Glasgow Regional Association, a group of SNP members from 10 constituencies in and around the city who join together for campaigning purposes.

Bob studied for an MA in social science at Glasgow University and a PGCE Secondary in History and Modern Studies at St Andrew's College, Bearsden.

He went on to work a History and Modern Studies teacher from 1995 until being elected in 2003.

Bob is also a member of the EIS.


Sandra White

Sandra has been active locally and nationally since joining the SNP in 1983, being councillor for Foxbar, Renfrewshire, for ten years before being elected as a Glasgow MSP in 1999.
She also contested Glasgow Kelvin in 1999 and 2003. She served as an SNP Parliamentary group whip in the first parliamentary session and currently sits on the parliament's Public Petitions Committee, and, Equal Opportunities Committee.

James is a Glasgow City Councillor for Langside and is leader of the SNP council group.

He also serves as the SNP spokesman on culture and sport and is a director of the SECC. His involvement in administration includes serving as a member of the Langside Area Committee and the South East Community Health and Care Partnership.

In his spare time, James lists attending the theatre, reading and spending time with his grandchildren amongst his hobbies. He also likes to travel whenever the opportunities arise.


Bill Kidd

Bill is a regional MSP for Glasgow and a councillor for Drumchapel.

He has represented the SNP in numerous Parliamentary Elections, both Holyrood and Westminster.

He has also represented the SNP Trade Union Group on the Party's NEC.

His major political interests are the development of policies to eradicate poverty, job creation, housing policy and an end to the nuclear power and weapons programmes of successive British Governments.


Anne McLaughlin

Anne was sworn in as a Glasgow list MSP on Thursday 12 February following the sad passing of Bashir Ahmad MSP.

Anne has been involved in the SNP for more than twenty years, in various roles ranging from Campaign Co-ordinator for the Glasgow East by-election, Director of the pro-independence 'Business for Scotland' and latterly as political advisor to Bob Doris MSP.

Originally from Greenock, Anne has lived in Glasgow for many years. She is deeply committed to International Development and spent 3 months volunteering in post-tsunami Sri Lanka in 2008.


Chris Stephens

Chris was born in Glasgow in 1973, is employed by Glasgow City Council, and is a senior UNISON activist. He has over last decade represented workers, and has a distinguished record, campaigning on issues such as Equal Pay, Disability Discrimination, Pensions. As an indication of his hard work, Chris has increased Trade Union membership in his workplace by 60% in the last 2 years.

Chris is 33, joined the SNP 17 years ago, and believes only the SNP and the noble cause of Independence have the ambition, vision and ideals to transform peoples lives within this Constituency.


Jim McGuigan

Jim was born in Glasgow in 1956 and was educated at Allan Glen's School. Jim worked  for the Halifax from school for 24 years then became self employed giving financial advice and debt counselling. Jim has been married to his wife Angela for 32 years. He joined the SNP in 1970 and has stood for the SNP at Council, and Parliamentary level previously. Jim is currently a Councillor in South Lanarkshire Council for Bothwell & Uddingston and serves as the Social Work spokesperson for the SNP group.


Mags Park

Margaret has been politically active since her teens and a member of the SNP since 1989.
Margaret was brought up in Glasgow and now lives in South Lanarkshire with her husband and son.
Following a career within the voluntary sector, Margaret is now a Management Training Consultant working with organisations and companies across the sectors.
An experienced candidate and activist Margaret was the Westminster candidate for Rutherglen/Hamilton West in 2005; has stood as a council candidate on two occasions; was the candidate for Glasgow Rutherglen and on the Glasgow List for the Scottish Parliamentary elections in 2007.
